AN IMPRESSIVE debut from a promising talent. Harriet Bartlett’s family roots are Scottish and her musical inclinations broadly Celtic.
# She is an accomplished accordion player, and her treatment of fast tunes in particular reflects the influence of her producer, Phil Cunningham, who is featured on piano, cittern and accordion, along with guitarist Ed Boyd and bodhran player Mark Maguire.
Her programme includes traditional arrangements, but is predominantly made up of strong contemporary tunes. She is a decent singer, although given to slightly sentimental selections.
